A slightly uneven lip edge can tempt you into adding another line of colour. After several corrections, the outline may be heavier than you intended. A small clean brush offers another approach: remove or refine the stray edge before deciding whether anything needs to be added.
Work in good light with a mirror at a comfortable distance. Keep the product and any suitable remover nearby, and follow their directions. Avoid using products on irritated or broken skin, and stop if something causes discomfort.
Correct the smallest area first
Identify the specific place that bothers you rather than redrawing the whole outline. With a clean, appropriate brush, gently tidy the excess according to the product’s removal method. Wipe the brush between passes so you do not spread pigment along the edge.
Once the area is clean and dry enough for the formula, decide whether a small amount of colour is needed. A highly pigmented product often requires less than the first instinct suggests. Build the correction gradually and avoid repeatedly scrubbing the same spot.
Check the lip shape while relaxed
A stretched smile can make an outline look different from the way it appears during ordinary conversation. Relax your mouth, look straight ahead and then turn slightly. The aim is a finish you enjoy wearing, not a perfectly symmetrical drawing imposed on a naturally varied face.
- Use clean tools.
- Remove misplaced colour before thickening the border.
- Keep cleanup product away from the mouth’s interior.
- Check both close up and at normal viewing distance.
For future applications, note where the excess began: too much product on the applicator, an awkward angle or a rushed corner. Adjusting that small step can reduce the need for cleanup more effectively than buying another product to cover it.
